A personal Claymation project for my still and moving images class.

Goals

With a small background in 2D animation and 3D modeling, I wanted to try a new medium. I had always been inspired by stop-motion animation and was just hoping to experiment a little.

Project

I was originally really concerned with how much time this project would take, so I wanted to try to make something that wasn't too story driven. Since I had a deadline, I wanted to create something that was more experiential and just learn more about the medium. For the project, all I used was two different colors of clay and documented the process of them organically mixing.

Takeaways

I learned a lot about animation and Claymation throughout this project. I definitely made some mistakes throughout the video, like having my fingers in some of the shots. I felt like the animation and movements improved throughout the project, so I'm excited to pursue some Claymation projects in the future. If I were to do it again, I would invest in having a unified background for my next piece and get a better phone stand for the process.
